Monday was a busy day for local news and updates. Here are some of the items you should be aware of on March 23.

Statewide Statistics Update

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services and the CDC, 10,055 tests have been administered in the state, and there are 352 confirmed cases. There have been eight deaths attributed to coronavirus in Texas.

(Please note that the data from DSHS and the data that the City of Kerrville uses for their status report are based on different standards — “presumptive positive” for city data and “confirmed positive” for DSHS data.)

KISD issues letter to parents

Situation report from the City of Kerrville

City officials released a daily update regarding emergency preparedness. At this time, Kerrville and Kerr County have zero confirmed cases of COVID-19, and testing is being conducted locally. The full report is available below.

Schreiner University campus is closed until further notice

According to a press release issued today, “Effective immediately, Schreiner University is closed to anyone who is not on campus for business purposes. Following CDC and Governor Abbott’s guidance, Schreiner has previously suspended all public events and closed the fitness center to public use. We feel that it is prudent now to keep all non-employee traffic on campus to a minimum including the use of our athletic fields, walking trails and using the loop to exercise and walk pets until further notice.”

Governmental Meetings

  • The Kerrville ISD Board of Trustees meets virtually tonight at 6:00 PM.
  • The Kerrville City Council meets virtually on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM.
